　　SpiffandHerculesistheEnglishtranslationofaFrenchcomicstriptitledPifetHercule,featuringananthropomorphicbrown-yellowdog("Pif")andablack-whitecat("Hercule")who,despitebeingbestfriends,areconstantlyfightinginafriendship/haterelationship.ThecharacterofPifwascreatedbyJoséCabreroArnalfortheFrenchCommunistPartynewspaperL'HumanitéonMarch28,1948,andthecatHerculeswasintroducedtwoyearslaterbbb　　TheadventuresofPifalsoappearedintheBritishcommunistnewspapertheDailyWorker(laterTheMorningStar)untilthemid-1970s.　　Spifflatergothisownmagazine("PifGadget"),whichwasverypopularasnotonlydiditincludeseveraldifferentcomicstrips,butofferedatoygadgetineachissue.　　HerculesalsogothisownversionofSpiff'smagazine,thisonecalled"SuperHercule",buthismagazinewasmorejoke-oriented.　　Aseriesof6526-minuteanimatedcartoonsfeaturingthecharacterswasproducedin1989byEuropeImages/M5inFrance.Eachprogramconsistedoftwoepisodes.UnitedKingdomtelevisionstationChannel4airedtheseriesin1993.
